Guys, I really need to go to bed

And this has all splintered off into so many directions, I can’t keep up with all the different conversations going on. I need to be up in 5 hours for work, haha, so if any of you want to talk more, shoot me an ask or something, or just reply to my posts, and I’ll get back to you tomorrow.

And for all of my other followers… I’m sorry if my homoerotic euphemisms about DnD disturbed you.

Sorry I’m not sorry.

This is what happens when the hubby (who is also the DM) says “Baby, you should draw a Warforged, but a Dragon version!”
I was actually really happy with this one. I had always tended to stick to the organic and shy away from mechanical and angular stuff when drawing (which I’m trying to get better at), but this was sorta like a mix of the two. I’m glad I stuck with it till the end.

This needs a name. And to be a mount. Can you imagine riding one of these around Faerun?

This is awesome!!
Riding this around would be the shit.

Fuck I don’t have any inspiration for the DnD session I need to write for today

Funny because I am also listening to Muse right now…

Anywho Maybe you guys can help?

So far I have my guys in a Prison area trying to free their friends (my characters when I stop DMing), as well as destroy some mystical artifact that is keeping this base slightly out of sync with the rest of the material plane, making it unreachable by normal means.

They are currently in a fight with a torturer, and are trying to free some friendly NPC. The destruction of the object is gonna be an objective I’ll leave the next DM to do, so there is continuity between us. But I can’t think of anything interesting to have happen before they free my soon to be PC’s. This will be my last session, and I want something cool to happen.

So pretty much I know where they need to be, and a big fight will happen then, but what should I do in the meantime. How do I get them from the Torturers place to the cells where my guys are being held? I don’t want it to be the next room, but I can’t think of any reason for it not to be. And I don’t want this session to be all just one big fight.

I really did use up all my good ideas when they were trying to construct a portal to get from the astral plane to the pocket dimension this base is in. I really should’ve kept some of those puzzles in my back pocket. Fuck.

So any ideas DnD followers? I know you are out there.

dmdiaries:

Here it is! Pokemon D&D, or at least a game based roughly on D&D.

The top chart is of the first 3 of the 18 Pokemon character classes I have created. As you can see they are based on actual Pokemon abilities and incorporate some D&D features. Most damage is based on d6’s while leach and damage over time abilities tend to be d4’s.

You roll out your character as you would with D&D. Roll your abilities by taking the best 3 rolls from 4d6. Fill, in your saves as well as your AC, Grapple, and Initiative Modifier. The Level/BAB/Ability Pts chart is for your reference when leveling up. All players start with 6hp + Con modifier. At each new level they gain 1d6+Con hp.

Setting up combat is fairly simple. The players determine the order in which they will be in, and DM can either do the same or have the enemy trainer’s Pokemon randomly ordered. Once you enter combat each player is designated a “Slot.” The slot is from the order you choose. Each Pokemon is squared off against one other. You then go down the line with combat, and the initiative modifier determined which Pokemon in each slot goes first.

Players can use their turns to either use an ability, attack, or switch spots to a willing ally. When a Pokemon faints they are taken out of combat and that slot becomes empty and players may move into those slots as an action.

Combat is pretty straight forward, you roll an attack or ability and beat their AC or save. Its the same mechanics as D&D. Your “Ability Points” determine how many of each ability you can use per encounter. As you can see as you level you gain additional use of your abilities. Note that all Pokemon have a base attack of 1d4 Physical damage that can be used an unlimited amount of times. I know this is not on the cards, it will likely be included in the future.

Note that you can only have 4 abilities open at a time, and once you unlearn one you cannot use it again. Each level you gain new abilities based on your Pokemon and it is up to the player to determine which abilities to keep.

Apologies for the sloppily written rules, I made several changes while in the process of writing it. Feel free to question or comment, any feedback is highly appreciated.

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 30

Day 30 - The Best DM you’ve ever had

I would have to say my first DM was the best. He got crazy into it, and made super elaborate worlds, with really complex politics, religion issues, and interpersonal relationships concerning our characters with NPC’s.

And he also loved to role play. Each NPC he played was incredibly unique from the last, and he just got so into being these other guys. It made the sessions more fun, where we could actually spend a hour just role playing our guys, and have no encounters to speak of.

It was all good fun.

And so was this 30 days challenge. Thanks for bearing with me this month.

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 24-27

Sorry I’ve been so bad at keeping this on track… I haven’t been on my computer sober that much lately, and I don’t usually post things while under the influence, because who knows what kind of shenanigans that could get me into…

It’s super long, so it’s behind the cut.

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 23

Day 23 - Least Favorite Monster Overall

I don’t really have a least favorite monster… but there were these really annoying bug like creatures we fought last summer, called Kruthiks that were just… well… I don’t even know.

You take damage whenever you end your turn in a space they threaten, so when you are surrounded by them you get hurt a lot. But then you also have enemies with ranged weapons or spells killing you, so it adds up a lot.

They are a great challenge for a DM to throw at a player, and it makes them use their characters differently, but still. Annoying.

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 22

Day 22- Favorite Monster Overall

I honestly don’t know…

I love were creatures, so I would go with that. I love putting them into things, or creating an entire story behind them. In one rome inspired game, werewolves were huge and founded the society there, but were then over thrown. cool stuff.

Sorry this isn’t clever… i’m tired from a long day of baking and DnD.

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 20-21

I officially suck at keeping this on track. Not like anyone really reads these or whatever…

Day 20 - Favorite Monster (Humanoid/Natural/Fey)

I kind of really like Shadar-Kai. I just think they’re so cool. My first DM had them as recurring enemies, and I just thought that they were the bomb. And they had chains!!! And if you read my last one of these, you’d realize I fucking love chains.

I mean… just awesome. They even look cool. They have that bit of extraplanar wonder that just entices me. And they make kick ass rogues. And I love rogues.

Day 21 - Favorite Dragon (Color/Type)

Interestingly enough I’ve never really dealt with dragons that often. Dungeons, yes, but not really dragons.

I guess I would have to say Bronze Dragons are my favorite. They are super inquisitive, and that bunny you absentmindedly just passed on the road could’ve been one keeping an eye on you. And they don’t really like to fight, but when they do they fight dirty. Which I like.

But all that you see is this:

D’awwwwwwww. I want a Bronze Dragon now!!!

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 18-19

Day 18 - Favorite Monster (Immortal/Outsider)

The Chain Devil. I like all of the Devil line, I just think they’re really cool. But this BAGQMF right here takes the cake.

With his chains. He is just cool, and you can use him in so many different ways to. He’s great to just wreck a team a players, while some other heavy hitters hack away. Just so cool.

And I love spiked chains as weapons. One of my favorite characters I’ve ever made was a fighter who used a spiked chain as him weapon, to an obscene effect. when he drank potions of giant (whatever) his reach was enourmous. He could whirlwind, trip everyone, and just be a spinning wall of death over all. So cool.

Whenever I am running out of ideas for a tough encounter, and I can make it work, I’ll put in a Chain Devil or two, and watch my players quake with fear.

Day 19 - Favorite Monster (Elemental/Plant)

I don’t think I’ve ever used a plant before in my life, in a game, but I’ve fought one before, and it destroyed my entire team… and took over our minds… But whatever. I don’t know the name of it, but it was cool.

Anyways, my favorite would be an Earth Elemental. Because I like how they can just decide to travel through earth and leave no trace. I love having them initiate a fight, and then just jumping into the ground to get a better advantage. Pushing people off cliffs or dragging people into the ground with them are some of my favorites. They’re suuuuper useful, and deadly. As my players are going to find out in the next session when they get to fight a giant (well… huge) one.

By the time you feel the earthquake, it will already have been too late.

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 17

Day 17 - Favorite Monster (Animal/Vermin)

I would have to say the Perfectly Ordinary Bunny Rabbit, would be my favorite.

So cute and innocent. Just a bunny, hopping it’s way through life.

Or your guts. So beware, you will die if faced with this terrible beastie.

But in all seriousness, and homebrew monsters asides, I would have to say the Bear is my favorite. It’s one of my favorite animals, and they are just so awesome. They make good animal companions, and being a werebear is pretty nice. So yea, they would be my favorite.

But that Bunny… *shudder*

30 Days of Dungeons and Dragons - Day 16

Day 16 - Favorite Monster (Abberation)

I would have to say the Beholder. It is the classic DnD monster. It looks really stupid, and like it isn’t worth that much in a fight. Because honestly, it is just really a floating eye with some tentacles. But, oh yea…

They shoot fucking laser beams out of their eye stalks!!!! I mean what the fuck does that? The person who developed it must have had some pretty weird trips while on acid, because that is the only way I can think of that someone would make such a hideous beastie.

Not only will it reduce you to nothingness, but it will also bite your fucking face off. They will mess your shit up. And no one can save you. Not even lovely Adele.

Well… maybe that isn’t true. If she thinks you can beat a Beholder, then go for it. Try. She will be setting fire to rain, waiting for someone like you to give a cold shoulder to a beholder, while chasing pavement. So good luck, kind sir and/or madam. Don’t forget that Beholder are often Rolling in the deep.
